Meet The President - Barbara Jagrowski was tapped to serve as the president of the League of Women Voters - Space Coast last fall, a position she had previously held from 1995 - 1999. She was born and raised in New York City. She left the city with her new husband to spend the next 30 years traveling the country and Europe while he pursued his military career. Along the way, they raised four outstanding children. In 1987, her husband retired from the military and soon thereafter took a civilian job in Florida which is where Mrs. Jagrowski joined the League of Women Voters (LWV).

From her involvement with the League as Membership Chair and Local Government Chair, she was selected to serve on the Fourth Brevard County Charter Commission, 1993-1994, which was successful in re-writing the Brevard County Charter and getting it approved by the voters. One year later, she was elected president of LWV - Space Coast and then in 2001 she was elected Director, then in 2003 was elected 1st Vice-President for the LWV of Florida Membership Committee. Prior to becoming president of the local League last fall, she was chairing the Finance Committee and Local Government Committee.

Her husband, now a retired chemistry professor and USAF fighter pilot, has been a League member since 1995 and serves on the Natural Resources Committee. Mrs. Jagrowski still enjoys traveling and her other interests include visiting with the grandchildren and their parents and singing in the Brevard Community Chorus.
